Celebrating Our Arabana Rangers on World Ranger Day

Every day our Arabana Rangers head out onto Country with a purpose. They don't just go to work – they care for places that hold the stories, history and identity of our people.
Whether they're protecting mound springs, managing weeds, monitoring wildlife, recording cultural heritage, helping Elders access Country or simply spending time listening and learning, every job is done with respect for Arabana Country and for those who came before them.
This year we'd like to celebrate every Ranger who has been part of the Arabana Ranger Program – both past and present. Every person has contributed to building the strong foundation we have today. Each has brought their own knowledge, skills, commitment and care, helping shape a program the Arabana community can be proud of.
Being a Ranger isn't always easy. It means long days, hot weather, rough tracks, changing conditions and time away from home. But our Rangers continue to show up because they genuinely care about protecting Country, looking after cultural places and creating opportunities for future generations.
Over the past year we've seen the team grow, take on new challenges, and build a reputation across South Australia as a hardworking, reliable and respected Ranger team. We've also seen more opportunities open up through fee-for-service work, training, partnerships and leadership.
As we celebrate where we've come from, we're also excited about what's ahead.
For the first time, Arabana Aboriginal Corporation is recruiting a dedicated Women's Ranger Team. This is an important step for our community and recognises the vital role women play in protecting cultural knowledge and passing that knowledge on to future generations.
Together, our Men's and Women's Ranger teams will continue to care for Arabana Country, strengthen culture and create opportunities for our people.
To every Ranger who has walked this journey with us, thank you. Your commitment, pride and care for Arabana Country does not go unnoticed. You are helping protect something much bigger than today, and your work will leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
