About the Role
We’re looking for someone who enjoys meeting people and being part of community life. As our Community Engagement and Member Services Officer, you’ll be the first-person people see when they walk into Arabana House.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
Welcome members and visitors, and answer questions.
Support members with applications and updates.
Help share news through newsletters, social media, and notices.
Assist with planning and running events like meetings, NAIDOC, on-Country camps, and other community gatherings.
Support the General Manager and Board with admin tasks (like organising meetings and taking minutes).
Build respectful and culturally safe connections with members, Elders, and stakeholders.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same – one day you might be helping organise an event, the next you’re supporting a family with their membership application.
This is a part-time, fixed-term position based at Arabana House in Port Augusta, funded for an initial two-year period. The role requires occasional travel to Adelaide and on Arabana Country to support Board meetings, cultural awareness training, workshops, camps and community events.

About You
We’d love to hear from you if you:
Have experience in community engagement, administration, and/or customer service.
Are confident talking to people and building good relationships.
Are organised and able to multitask.
Have good communication skills, both written and verbal, to share information clearly.
Have basic computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel).
Have a current driver’s licence.
It would also be great (but not essential) if you’ve got:
Experience supporting Boards or committees.
Experience in event coordination and/or communications/marketing.
A Certificate III in Community Services, Business Administration, or similar.
Experience supporting Aboriginal communities/organisations.
