Arabana Aboriginal Corporation (AAC) is looking for a dynamic and culturally grounded General Manager to join our team and lead our efforts in protecting and managing Arabana Country.


About Us

The Arabana Aboriginal Corporation is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC) for the Arabana People, whose Country spans a vast and beautiful area of South Australia. Our work is centered around protecting and managing our cultural heritage, land, and waters, while providing opportunities for land management, tourism, environmental stewardship, and enterprise development. Our focus on community leadership, economic participation, and cultural identity is guided by Arabana values and governance.


About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced and visionary General Manager who will work closely with our Board of Directors to lead the strategic growth and operational success of AAC. You will oversee all operational, financial, and program areas, ensuring AAC’s cultural, environmental, and economic aspirations for Arabana Country are realised.


In this leadership role, you will:

  • Lead AAC’s programs, including land management, heritage protection, enterprise development, and ranger services.

  • Work with the Arabana Board to implement the strategic plan and ensure alignment with the community’s long-term goals.

  • Drive engagement and build partnerships with stakeholders across government, industry, and community.

  • Provide culturally responsive governance support and foster Board development.

  • Represent AAC and Arabana People at local, state, and national levels.


About You

We are looking for a strategic leader who has proven experience in executive management, preferably within Aboriginal or community-focused organisations. You should have strong governance, financial, and operational management skills, along with a high-level ability to communicate and engage with stakeholders.


Key requirements:

  • Strong leadership experience in driving organisational growth and change.

  • Experience working with Traditional Owners, Elders, and Aboriginal communities.

  • Tertiary qualifications in management, business, or related fields are highly desirable.

  • Deep respect and understanding of Aboriginal cultures, with knowledge of Arabana Country and protocols highly regarded.
