Collaborating for Country: Scoping Trip at Finniss Springs

Arabana Rangers recently embarked on a scoping trip to Finniss Springs, joined by staff from the Friends of Mound Springs (FOMS), South Australian Arid Lands Landscape Board (SAAL), and Arabana elders. This trip marked an important step towards developing a collaborative plan for the protection and monitoring of the mound springs on Finniss.

The team worked together to identify strategies for feral animal and weed control, fencing, and ongoing monitoring. If the plan proves successful, the aim is to expand these efforts to other springs across Arabana Country, further safeguarding these vital environmental and cultural sites.

The group also visited key running bores on Finniss: Charlie Angus, Kuri Apa, and Alberrie Creek, discussing how to manage these resources sustainably moving forward. Ongoing conversations will be essential to ensuring these bores are managed effectively.

This collaborative effort is a significant step in ensuring the protection of Arabana’s cultural and natural heritage.
