The ‘State Prosperity Project’ and new Port Augusta Technical College brings new opportunities for Aboriginal communities

AAC’s new Business Development Manager, Jodi Shaw had the pleasure of meeting Kyam Maher MLC, SA Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General and Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector while attending last night’s Major Economic Summit in Port Pirie where Premier Peter Malinauskas and his ministers talked about the exciting economic opportunities coming to the region.

The ‘State Prosperity Project’ is to unlock the full potential of renewable energy, critical minerals and green manufacturing to re-industrialise this region with our copper opportunities, the Northern Water Project, the green iron opportunity, the Hydrogen Jobs Plan and the new Port Augusta Technical College.

The new Technical College to be co-located at the Port Augusta Secondary School will open in 2025 where students will get the training they need for the new jobs being created. The Technical College will have on-site accommodation allowing students from remote areas to attend and train for careers in key industries in the region.

Minister Maher will be holding discussions within Government about opportunities for Aboriginal communities as part of this work and we will continue to develop this important connection with the Minister, as well as Cameron Baker, South Australian Skills Commissioner, to keep informed as projects progress.
