Arabana Ranger joins IDA team heading to the Earthshot Prize Awards in India
We’re sharing some exciting news about Arabana Ranger Hayden Stuart.
Hayden is a Board member of the Indigenous Desert Alliance (IDA), which has been named a 2026 Earthshot Prize finalist for its Right Way Desert Fire program. In November, Hayden will travel to Mumbai, India, as part of the IDA team attending the awards.
The nomination recognises the work of Indigenous desert ranger teams using cultural knowledge and carefully planned burning to look after Country. This work helps protect native species, reduce fuel loads and lower the risk of large, destructive wildfires.
IDA brings together 70 desert ranger teams working across 2.7 million square kilometres of desert Country. Its Earthshot nomination puts a global spotlight on the knowledge, skill and commitment of the people doing this work on the ground.
It is special for AAC to see Hayden be part of this moment. We know the care he brings to his work as an Arabana Ranger, and we’re proud of the contribution he makes as an IDA Board member.
