The Arabana Women's Ranger Program is Here – Join Our Foundation Team!

The Arabana Aboriginal Corporation is seeking Arabana women to become part of our new Women's Ranger Program. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new program that will support Arabana women to care for Country, strengthen culture, protect significant places, and create opportunities for future generations.

Working on Arabana Country, you will learn practical land management skills while working alongside Traditional Owners, Elders and the wider Ranger team to deliver the Arabana Healthy Country Plan. You will also play an important role in sharing Arabana culture and knowledge through community engagement, youth programs, cultural camps, workshops and educational activities.

Position Details:

  • Based in Port Augusta, with regular work on Arabana Country

  • Undertake regular studies in Conservation and Land Management, Literacy and Numeracy and other training as required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work as an active member of the Women's Arabana Ranger Team to deliver outcomes aligned with our Healthy Country Plan

  • Collaborate with conservation groups on joint management activities to protect and preserve our Country

  • Maintain a safe working environment by following operational procedures

  • Support the recording of traditional ecological and cultural knowledge in line with our work plans and Traditional Owner expectations.

  • Engage with Elders and Traditional Owners to support program outcomes

  • Plan, support and deliver community engagement activities, including cultural workshops, school visits, youth programs and on-Country camps.

  • Represent the Women's Ranger Program by sharing Arabana culture, knowledge and caring for Country with community members, visitors and partner organisations.


About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is comfortable camping out bush on Arabana Country

  • Is reliable and committed

  • Works well in a team environment

  • Follows instructions and safety procedures

  • Is willing to learn and undertake training


Essential Requirements

  • Identify as an Arabana woman

  • Hold a Class C Driver’s Licence

  • Meet COVID-19 vaccination requirements

  • Be willing to complete a Police Check and Working with Children Check

Note: Training and support will be provided to help successful applicants meet compliance requirements where needed.
