Arru, Arabana nharla!
Boy do we have an announcement for you today!
Arabana Aboriginal Corporation has been successful in securing funding through the second round of the Federal Government’s Indigenous Ranger Expansion Grant.
This is a huge milestone for our community, and one that’s been a long time coming. After an earlier unsuccessful application last year, we stayed the course, strengthened our proposal, and this time came through victorious.
Thanks to this funding, we’ll be establishing our second Arabana Ranger team — the Arabana Female Ranger Team. This new team will create opportunities for Arabana women to work on-Country, lead in environmental and cultural management, drive community education and youth engagement, and continue the vital work of protecting and caring for our lands, waters, and sacred places.
The announcement forms part of the Federal Government’s broader commitment to double Indigenous Ranger jobs by 2030, with a focus on equity for women across ranger programs nationwide.
This achievement means more than just new jobs, it’s about continuing the legacy of our Elders, strengthening our connection to Country, and creating pathways for the next generation of Arabana women to grow as leaders in land and cultural management.
We extend our thanks to Daryl Clarke, the Indigenous Desert Alliance, SAAL, Arid Recovery, and all our partners and supporters who continue to advocate for and back the work of our Arabana Ranger program. Our Rangers do deadly work, and now we can double the outcomes for community and Country!
This is a proud moment for the Arabana community and just the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our Rangers.
Stay tuned for updates as we begin recruitment and get ready to launch the Arabana Female Ranger Team in 2026.
