Arabana Rangers join Far West Coast and Oak Valley teams for Buffel Grass Training

Updated: 12 minutes ago

The Arabana Ranger team recently travelled to Ceduna to take part in a Ranger Exchange with the Oak Valley and Far West Coast Rangers. They were joined by the newly created Cooper Basin Ranger team for an intensive program focused on buffel grass management and on-Country learning.

Over the course of the exchange, the Rangers gained practical experience in best-practice weed control methods, including hands-on training in the granule application technique. These sessions strengthened their skills in safety procedures, spraying methods, and weed management planning, all essential for the weed control services ingtended to be delivered by the Arabana Rangers.

The exchange was also about connection, building relationships, sharing stories, and learning from each other’s experiences caring for Country. Collaborations like this are at the heart of the Indigenous ranger network, where knowledge and practice are passed on through doing the work together, on the land.

We'd like to thank our mates at Indigenous Desert Alliance (IDA), Far West Coast Rangers and Oak Valley Rangers for the trip, as well as the Cooper Basin Rangers for accompanying us.
