Arru - this is one of two very special videos we'd like to share today. Recently the Arabana Rangers held another Elders trip where Rangers, Elders and young mob went out on Country to share knowledge and learn about old Arabana ways and places.

Rangers also received training on recording and managing cultural information. This is extremely important because there are now only a few elders left with deep knowledge of country and this trip addressed a number of Traditional Owner priorities including visiting cultural sites not visited in a long time and transferring knowledge around these sites and their management/protection. Key places to visit and record cultural data are Stuart’s Creek, Anna Creek, Nilpina, Peake and Macumba Stations.

"Once we hit that dirt road everyone's energy just picked up, no one could stop talking on the UHF radio about being out on Country and having a laugh. You can feel the energy once we got on that dirt road and back on Country" ~ Zaaheer McKenzie, Head Ranger, Arabana Rangers.

We would love to thank the Indigenous Desert Alliance (IDA) for the funding and co-design of this trip; Salty Davenport for the filming and editing of these deadly videos and photography; and also Saltbush Ag for letting us all stay at Stuarts Creek Station during the trip; and Trevor Wright for his hospitality at William Creek especially providing flights over the painted hills and Kati Thanda.

We also especially would like to thank the Elders and young ones for coming out on this trip with us to share and learn the important knowledge of Arabana Heritage and Country to carry on for generations to come.

The video is a large file, so you can view it on our deadly YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/NsFrZCpo4N0
